Your Card and the Wheel of the Year

Room 13 of 13 · Level III · Archivist · 6 min

Tarot was born as a game and became an esoteric tool; Wicca arranged the year into eight festivals. Here you join both in a spell with a card.

What you practise

The tarot suits and their usual elements, the Wheel of the Year and a spell with a card.

The four steps, in text
  1. 1. Put each suit with its element. Wands → Fire · Swords → Air · Cups → Water · Pentacles → Earth
  2. 2. Light the eight festivals of the Wheel of the Year, from Samhain. Samhain → Yule → Imbolc → Ostara → Beltane → Litha → Lughnasadh / Lammas → Mabon
  3. 3. Trace the Wheel of the Year. A circle with eight spokes: one for each festival of the year.
  4. 4. Choose the moon for your card spell. New moon, Waxing crescent, First quarter, Waxing gibbous, Full moon, Waning gibbous, Last quarter, Waning crescent

Safety

  • Real candle: never leave it alone; put it on a ceramic or metal plate, away from curtains, paper, children and pets. Snuff it out before leaving the room. An LED candle works just as well.
  • Your intention is about you. Nothing to harm, control or bind another person.
  • This is a reflective practice: don't use it to make decisions about health, money or legal matters.

🕯️ Candle out · complete a mission to light it

The streak candle is only an on-screen element. If a room suggests a real candle, follow its safety rules.

Fun fact

Tarot appeared in Italian courts in the 1440s–50s as a trick-taking game.
