Your First Talisman
Room 6 of 13 · Level II · Adept · 6 min
The Picatrix calls talismans "images": objects made at the right astral moment. Here you make a paper one in Venus's hour.
What you practise
Venus correspondences per Agrippa and a paper talisman made on a Friday.
The four steps, in text
- 1. Put each plant or material with its planet. Rose → ♀ Venus · Thyme → ♀ Venus · Myrtle → ♀ Venus · Green paper → ♀ Venus · Marjoram → ☿ Mercury
- 2. Light Friday's first seven hours, in order. Hour 1 · ♀ Venus → Hour 2 · ☿ Mercury → Hour 3 · ☽ Moon → Hour 4 · ♄ Saturn → Hour 5 · ♃ Jupiter → Hour 6 · ♂ Mars → Hour 7 · ☉ Sun
- 3. Trace Venus's symbol. The ♀ symbol: a circle on top and, below it, a cross (one vertical and one horizontal bar).
- 4. Choose the moon for your talisman. New moon, Waxing crescent, First quarter, Waxing gibbous, Full moon, Waning gibbous, Last quarter, Waning crescent
Safety
- Real candle: never leave it alone; put it on a ceramic or metal plate, away from curtains, paper, children and pets. Snuff it out before leaving the room. An LED candle works just as well.
- Do not swallow the salt, the ritual water, plants or oils. Nothing in this room goes on your skin.
- Pregnancy, breastfeeding or allergies: avoid essential oils and herbs on the skin or in smoke, and check with a health professional first.
- Your intention is about you. Nothing to harm, control or bind another person.
🕯️ Candle out · complete a mission to light it
The streak candle is only an on-screen element. If a room suggests a real candle, follow its safety rules.
Fun fact
The word "talisman" comes from Arabic "ṭilasm"; the Castilian Picatrix uses the form "telsam".
