Dreams of moving house tend to come when part of you no longer fits where it used to live: a way of being, a relationship, a job, an idea of yourself. Look at the new place. If it was huge and empty, you do not yet know how to live in what is coming; if the packing never ended, letting go of the old is hard. What you carried and what you left behind shows what you want to keep of yourself.

In analytical psychology the house is an image of the psyche, so changing houses means changing attitude. Jung called this movement individuation: the personality leaving a narrow form to inhabit a wider one. Every move carries a little grief, a goodbye to a version of you that has done its job.
